Baked haddock isn’t a difficult dish to make since fish tends to cook quickly and it has the capacity to retain its moisture into the fillets. Now, I am going to share with you how to make a fast and easy baked haddock recipe.
I will also share my knowledge on how you can add a touch of Thai flavor into it by adding Thai seasoning. This type of seasoning can also add a bursting taste to your baked haddock fish.
The good thing about baked fish recipes is that it is much the same for all fish fillets, so each time you bake, you can try other types of fish in order to have a different flavor and sea food experience. The basics when it comes to baking fish are also the same, so you can start adding your favorite herbs and spices to your seafood dinner.
If the fish has a layer about that is moist, the direct heat that is provided by the baking process will all be absorbed. This enables the fish to be cooked well while allowing its own moisture to be preserved, and enhancing its flavor to its peak.
Preparation and cooking times
You can easily and quickly prepare your baked haddock because you only need 10 minutes preparation and another 40 minutes for the cooking process.
With the ingredients listed, you can serve four persons. You can add another half of the total ingredients for every extra person that you will include. Also, you should add five minutes cooking time.
Ingredients:
1 kilogram of frozen haddock which needs to be defrosted (Fresh is also optional)
3 Sliced tomatoes, about 3 mm is fine
1 finely chopped red onion
10 ml of Exotic Thai spices for flavor
A pinch of Salt and Pepper to taste
10 ml fresh parsley flakes or sprigs
4 potatoes sliced thinly about the same width of the tomato slices
1 packet of instant Chicken a la King sauce
250ml of buttermilk
First, you need to preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and just wait until the light is off.
Second, while you are waiting for the oven to heat up, slice your potatoes, tomatoes and chop your onions.
Third, in a casserole dish that is oven proof, put some olive oil or grease into it and spread it around evenly so to prevent sticking to the casserole later.
Fourth, get your fillets of haddock fish and place them into the casserole dish. Bear in mind to create a layer so that you can cover the bottom of the dish.
Fifth, you should add salt and pepper to the dish as well as the Thai seasonings.
Sixth, layer the onions and tomatoes that you sliced thinly. This will help seal the layer of the fish so that it can protect the fish from burning.
Seventh, you can now add the slices of potato into the dish.
Eight, in a mixing jug, combine the instant chicken a la king sauce and the buttermilk. Then, pour the mixture that you made over the layer of potato.
Ninth, by this time your oven is already heated enough at 180 degrees. Cook the dish for about 35 to 40 minutes. When the potatoes are ready, they will be golden brown. You can double check whether the potatoes are cooked or not by using a skewer or a toothpick and push it through the potatoes.
